Spring floral display with more than 139,000 bulbs inspired by Keukenhof, marking the Atlanta Botanical Garden's 50th anniversary.
Atlanta Blooms! opens at the Atlanta Botanical Garden on Monday, March 1, 2027. It's the Garden's signature spring display, and this year it's coming back on a much larger scale.
The occasion is the Garden's 50th anniversary, and they've marked it by doubling the size of the display on the Great Lawn. The lawn is one of the most visited spots in the Garden, and it hadn't been renovated in more than a decade. To overhaul it, the horticulturists worked with Jack de Vrooman of De Vrooman Garden Products, a major bulb supplier for the world-renowned Keukenhof Gardens in the Netherlands. They looked to Keukenhof's sweeping, color-blended plantings for inspiration, and the result is an immersive sea of blooms: 51 varieties arranged in dramatic warm- and cool-color waves. More than 139,000 bulbs fill the Great Lawn and the adjacent beds—roughly double the number planted across the Garden the previous spring.
Beyond the flowers, the Garden is also transforming nearly eight acres along Piedmont Avenue and the Beltline's northeast corridor. It's part of the city's broader vision for a more walkable, bikeable, connected Atlanta, so the work there ties into the neighborhood as much as it does the Garden itself.
