Holiday showcase of puppetry with beloved characters from Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Lamb Chop's Special Chanukah.
Festive Features returns to the Center for Puppetry Arts this holiday season, running from November 11 through December 27, 2026. It's the museum's annual holiday showcase, and it takes over a good chunk of the building: displays are spread across three galleries and the atrium, so you'll be walking through the museum rather than staying in one room.
The exhibition focuses on the artistry that brings holiday favorites to life on stage and screen. You'll find puppets from Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas, the 1964 Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Lamb Chop's Special Chanukah. It's a look at the actual figures behind those characters, the kind of thing you usually only see in a workshop or a production still, brought out for a few months of the year.
It's a slow-paced visit—the museum suggests about 90 minutes to take it all in—and it's open to all ages, so it works as a family outing as much as a trip for anyone who grew up with these specials. If you're going with kids, that's a good thing to keep in mind before you head in.
