Evan Honer brings his It's An Even Longer Road Tour to The Sovereign on Monday, November 2, with Sam Burchfield and Andrew Lucier opening. Honer is an indie-folk and Americana singer-songwriter from Surprise, Arizona, who first made a name for himself when his cover of Tyler Childers' "Jersey Giant" went viral, racking up over 200 million streams and an RIAA gold certification. He runs his own independent label, Cloverdale Records, and has collaborated with artists like Wyatt Flores.
His debut album, West on I-10, came out on his graduation day, and Fighting For followed, recorded while he was on the road. His 2024 album, Everything I Wanted, marks a shift toward indie and alternative-pop, with string and horn arrangements and contributions from his roommates. He cut the whole thing over 18 days in a garage studio he built himself in Nashville, so that record sits in a different place than the earlier folk-leaning material. Between the two openers, Burchfield and Lucier, the night should give you a look at both sides of his catalog.
The Sovereign is an independent venue in the Grand Center Arts District, with a 1,200-person capacity. It's housed in a fully renovated 1922 building that once served as the Pavyer Printing Machine Works, so it's got a bit of the city's industrial history built into it. A dollar from every ticket goes to The Cloverdale Project.
