Screening of the documentary '67 Bombs to Enid' followed by an in-person Q&A with its co-director, Kevin Ford.
Arkadin Cinema & Bar is screening 67 Bombs to Enid on Saturday, October 24, followed by an in-person Q&A with co-director Kevin Ford. It's a midday showing, running from 12 PM to 2:30 PM, so you'll be out by mid-afternoon.
The film is an intimate, character-driven documentary that works its way through the 67 known U.S. nuclear weapons tests carried out in the Marshall Islands between 1946 and 1958. It weaves together first-hand accounts from that era with the testimony of the generation born after, tracing the displacement and generational trauma that followed. Along the way, it also looks at a community's insistence on joy and cultural pride. It follows Marshallese survivors and their descendants, including a community settled on the plains of Enid, Oklahoma, and speaks to the need for durable solutions to the harms of the nuclear legacy and the pursuit of nuclear justice.
