An outdoor theatrical ghost walk led by an executioner, threading through Southampton Old Town to share true stories of executions over 800 years of history.
Sentenced to Death is the Sarah Siddons Fan Club's Halloween ghost walk, starting at Holyrood Church on High Street in Southampton. It's an outdoor theatrical walk led by an executioner, threading through Southampton Old Town and sharing true stories from more than 800 years of the city's past. The focus is on those who were hanged, drawn and quartered in tales of treason, despicable plots and cold-blooded murder, told by dodgy monks, royal courtiers, cruel thieves and scorned lovers.
Behind it is the Sarah Siddons Fan Club, founded in 1988. They've used street theatre to promote Southampton's history for decades, and they've staged a different Halloween show every year for almost 30 years. This one follows the same tradition: a theatrical walk through the city's old centre, using the streets themselves as the stage.
