A chilling theatrical ghost story inspired by the iconic film series, featuring illusions and supernatural effects, recommended for ages 15+.
Paranormal Activity plays at Mayflower Theatre from 6 to 9 January 2027, part of its first ever UK and Ireland tour. It's a theatre adaptation of the film series of the same name, written by Levi Holloway and directed by Felix Barrett, the artistic director of Punchdrunk. If you've seen the films, it's worth knowing that this is a brand-new story told live on stage rather than a recreation of any of the movies: James and Lou move from Chicago to London and find their new home haunted.
The production relies heavily on illusions and supernatural effects, with sudden darkness, loud sounds and theatrical trickery designed to unsettle. It's recommended for ages 15+. It comes to Southampton after a sell-out, extended run at the Ambassadors Theatre in the West End, and it's a 2026 Olivier Award nominee for Best Entertainment, which it went on to win. The Guardian called it 'a night that leaves you spellbound. Jaw-clenchingly, arm-clutchingly thrilling', and the Financial Times described it as 'a chilling evening: a cracking ghost story so skilfully delivered that it might follow you home'.
