Comedian Rufus Hound returns to his first love with live theatre, performing in the comedy play 'First Love' at Mayflower Studios.
Rufus Hound is coming to Mayflower Studios from 16 to 21 November, as part of a major UK tour that runs until March 2027. Most of us know him as a stand-up and a TV face, but he's described theatre as his first and biggest love, and this is him returning to it.
He's spent the last couple of decades in the spotlight. He left a PR job in 2000 to start out in comedy, then moved into television, hosting Top of the Pops and the BBC's coverage of Glastonbury, and appearing as a panellist on ITV2's Celebrity Juice. He made his stage debut in 2012 at London's Soho Theatre, and since then he's been in One Man Two Guvnors at the National Theatre, in the West End, and on tour, as well as Wind in the Willows at the London Palladium. This run at Mayflower is his latest return to the boards.

The show is written by Torben Betts, whose earlier hits include Murder at Midnight and Murder in the Dark, and it's directed by Philip Franks. Hound plays Peter, a TV medium who works under the stage name Darius Divine. He's described the comedic tension of the play as the same tension a mystery needs to work, so it's a comedy that doubles as a whodunnit. The Southampton dates are one stop on a tour that continues through to March 2027.
