A musical theatre cabaret showcase with songs, dances, solos and duets drawn from shows such as Sister Act and Into the Woods, with a short interval.
Light UP Musical Theatre Company are bringing their Musical Theatre Cabaret to Maskers Theatre on Thursday 16 July, starting at 7:00pm. It's a showcase of songs, dances, solos and duets, with the set drawn from shows as different as Sister Act and Into the Woods.
That range tells you a bit about what to expect: you'll get the gospel-inflected energy of Sister Act alongside the darker, folk-tinged storytelling of Into the Woods, and plenty of other musical theatre in between. The company has put together a mix of solos, duets and dance numbers, and they describe the night as one where every performer gets their own moment in the spotlight. It's a cabaret format, so it's more about the individual songs and numbers than a single story running from start to finish.
The whole thing runs for a maximum of an hour and a half, including a short interval, so it's a relatively compact evening. If you're not one for long nights out, it's a good length to fit in without taking up your whole evening.
