Zog and the Flying Doctors

Zog and the Flying Doctors comes to Mayflower Studios from 21 to 23 May 2027, bringing Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's children's book to the stage. It's produced by Freckle Productions, the same company behind Zog and Stick Man, and the story follows the lovable dragon Zog, the fearless Princess Pearl and the trusty Sir Gadabout as they take to the skies to help creatures big and small. Along the way they come across a disco-loving unicorn with one too many horns, a sneezy, wheezy lion and a sunburnt mermaid.

Freckle Productions stages the show with puppetry, original songs by Joe Stilgoe and playful storytelling. Executive producer Jennifer Sutherland says Zog has become a special part of what the company does, and the production is built around those same elements — puppets and music — that they've used for their other adaptations of Donaldson and Scheffler's work.

The show runs for about an hour with no interval, so it's a single sitting rather than something you'll need to break up. It's recommended for ages 3 and over, though under-2s are welcome, and there are British Sign Language and audio-described performances available.
