Special performance of Firework from Moulin Rouge! The Musical at Southampton Pride.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical is performing Firework at Guildhall Square on Saturday 29 August, as part of Southampton Pride 2026. Ann Sophie takes the stage as Satine, and the performance comes during the show's first-ever world tour.
If you're not familiar with the story, it's set in Paris in 1899 and follows the lovesick American writer Christian and Satine, the star of the Moulin Rouge nightclub. Their romance is thwarted by the club's impresario Harold Zidler and the Duke of Monroth. Firework is one of the big moments from the show, and this particular performance is part of the production's world tour.
There's a bit of local history behind it, too. The production's director, Julianne Watling-McCarthy, says Mayflower Theatre has been a strong supporter of Southampton Pride for years, and that partnership extends into 2026 for the Trust's 10th anniversary. The production is also sponsoring the Pride wristbands, and Mayflower is a Bronze Partner of the festival.
