A one-woman show bringing to life the stories of extraordinary women who helped defeat Nazi terror, performed by Louise Jordan.
Louise Jordan brings her one-woman show Behind Enemy Lines to Mayflower Studios on Friday 30 October, as part of the venue's Shout season. It's a touring production that tells the stories of the women whose courage, daring, ingenuity and sacrifice helped defeat Nazi terror during the Second World War.
Jordan's research focuses on the female secret agents of the Special Operations Executive's F-Section. These women were infiltrated into Nazi-occupied France and trained in sabotage, subversion and silent killing. The show brings their lives back to the stage through acting, soundscape, interaction and original song, and runs for about 100 minutes with an interval. Critics have described it as a highly visual and aural experience that honours the legacy of these women.
Jordan is a songwriter and theatre maker, and beyond the stage she gives illustrated talks on her research. She was featured on BBC South Today in March 2022 to celebrate her International Women's Day tour. The show is recommended for ages 12 and over, as it contains references to violence against women and mild swearing.
