A showcase of musical theatre performances by the Richard Taunton Sixth Form College Performing Arts Company.
An Evening of Cabaret runs at Richard Taunton Sixth Form College on Wednesday 14 October and Thursday 15 October, both nights starting at 7pm with doors open from 6:45. It's a showcase of musical theatre performances put together by the college's Performing Arts Company, so you're seeing the work of the students themselves rather than a professional touring production.
The whole thing comes from the college's Musical Theatre Cohort, the group of students who spend their time working through the songs, choreography, and staging that make up the night. Because it's a showcase, the evening is built around a series of separate numbers rather than one single story, which means you get a good sense of the different styles and voices within the group. It's the kind of show that lets the individual performers step forward for their own moments, with the full company coming together for the bigger pieces.

Since it's a student production, it's a good way to see what's coming out of the college's performing arts department. The two nights give you a couple of chances to catch it if you can't make the first, and the 7pm start means you're not out too late on a school night. Doors open at 6:45, so there's plenty of time to get settled before the first number kicks off. If you're around Southampton and fancy a night of musical theatre, you've got two dates to choose from.
