Author Richard Daniels presents an occult spectacular of conspiracies, ghosts and UFOs from his 'Occultaria of Albion' case-file series, with live synthesizers from Linoleum Department.
Richard Daniels brings The Filing Cabinet of Fear to The Samuel Worth Chapel at Sheffield General Cemetery on Sunday 1 November. It's an evening drawn from his case-file series Occultaria of Albion, which he describes as an entertaining, terrifying journey into an alternate realm of conspiracies, ghosts and UFOs. He works audio and video into the show, which he calls an occult spectacular — original, funny and unpredictable — and shares the stage with a mouldy, cursed filing cabinet.
He's joined by musical mystic Linoleum Department on synthesizers, who add a sound the show refers to as a cone of power. Between the two of them, the night sits somewhere between a lecture and a performance, with the filing cabinet acting as a recurring prop. It's pitched at fans of 1970s public information films, The Mighty Boosh and anyone expecting imminent alien abduction.
The venue is the Samuel Worth Chapel, a fully accessible space run by the Sheffield General Cemetery Trust. There's a fully licensed bar on site, with the proceeds going to support the Trust's work. The cemetery itself opened in 1836 and took its last burial in 1978, and it's now preserved as a green space in the heart of the city.
