Meeting of the Sheffield Feminist Book Club to discuss Lucy Rose's debut novel 'The Lamb'.
Sheffield Feminist Book Club meets at La Biblioteka in Leah's Yard on Thursday 29 October, from 7:00 to 9:00pm, to discuss The Lamb by Lucy Rose. The club runs across several UK cities and describes its meetings as a fun, inclusive social space, so if you've never been, this is a good one to start with.
The Lamb is Lucy Rose's debut novel, and it's a bit of a hybrid: part folk tale, part horror story, and part coming-of-age tale, centred on a mother and daughter living by a forest. Rose is a Cumbrian now living in the North East, and the book has already picked up a fair bit of attention. It won the Somerset Maugham Prize and the Nota Bene Award, and Rose herself is a Forbes Under 30. The novel hit the Sunday Times bestseller list and was named best debut novel of 2025 by both Cosmopolitan and Spotify, and it also made the cut for Dakota Johnson's Tea Time Book Club.
If you're not already reading it, there's plenty of time to get through it before the 29th. The session runs for two hours, so there's room for a proper conversation rather than just a quick run-through. The club's focus is as much on the social side as the book itself, so it's as much about meeting people as it is about the reading.
