A guided ghost walk through Sheffield's city centre back streets and yards, led by storyteller Adrian Finney, mixing local history, folklore and comedy.
Adrian Finney is leading Route One of his Strange Sheffield Ghost Tour from Leah's Yard on Friday 6 November, from 19:30 to 21:00. It's one of two routes he runs from the yard on alternate Friday nights, and this particular one takes in about three quarters of a mile of the city centre's back streets and yards over around 90 minutes. It's fully accessible and best for ages 14 and up.
Finney is a Sheffield storyteller and author, and the guide behind Strange Britain and its Strange Sheffield Ghost Tours. He led his first ghost walk on 29 October 2021 along Bunting Nook in Norton, and five years on the walks have remained a fixture of the city centre. The tours mix local history, folklore and a good deal of comedy, so it's as much about the city's stories as it is about the ghosts.
Away from the tours, Finney writes the Strange Britain books, including The Sins of Sheffield: True Crime Tales from the Steel City, and runs true crime nights alongside a Strange Britain video and podcast series. If you're into the darker side of the city's past, that's where a lot of the material comes from.
