Free secret screening of a classic film about the origins of Bonfire Night at the Alder Bar, presented by the Kelham Island Film Club.
Kelham Island Film Club are bringing a secret cinema night to Alder Bar on Thursday 5 November, right on Bonfire Night. They've billed it as a 'very special, very secret cinema', and the secret is the film itself — they aren't announcing the title in advance, so you'll only find out what's on screen once you're in the room.
There is a clue, though. The programme pairs a classic film about the origins of Bonfire Night with 'explosive' romance, so if you've got a penchant for the Gunpowder Plot and a bit of a love story, you can probably guess the general territory. It's an indoor screening, which is the main draw here: you get to mark the night without having to stand out in the November cold.
It's a Kelham Island Film Club production, and they've got a few local names backing them on this one — Big Trip Brewing, Studio Jumble, Cloud Coffee Co and Sheffherd are all listed as sponsors. The venue, Alder Bar, says they try to be as accessible as possible to all patrons, and under-18s are welcome as long as they're with a parent or legal guardian.
