Autumn pumpkin picking day at Whirlow Hall Farm with 10:00 and 13:00 sessions, £5 per person.
Whirlow Hall Farm is hosting its pumpkin picking day on Saturday 24 October, so if you've been meaning to get your autumn carving sorted, this is a good spot to do it. It's a proper farm day out in the west of the city, and the whole thing is run by the Whirlow Hall Farm Trust.
The main draw is exactly what it says on the tin: you head out into the patch and pick your own pumpkin straight from the field. It's one of those simple, seasonal things that works best when you're actually there, and since it's on a working farm, it's a bit more of an experience than just grabbing a pre-picked one from a supermarket shelf. If you're taking the kids, it's a decent way to spend a Saturday morning or afternoon without having to trek too far out of Sheffield.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Sheffield and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

There are two sessions to choose from, one at 10:00am and another at 1:00pm, so you can pick your slot and work around the rest of your day. The farm is at Whirlow Lane, Sheffield S11 9QF, which puts it well within reach if you're coming from the south or west of the city. Entry is £5 per person, and under-twos go in free, so it's a fair shout for a family trip.
