UK & Ireland tour of the musical comedy Mean Girls, from the West End and winner of Best New Musical at the WhatsOnStage Awards.
Mean Girls plays at The Lyceum from Monday 9 to Saturday 14 November, a week-long run that forms part of the show's UK and Ireland tour. It's the musical comedy adaptation of the film, coming straight from the West End and taking Best New Musical at the WhatsOnStage Awards. The creative team behind it is a big one: Tina Fey wrote the book, Jeff Richmond handled the music, Nell Benjamin did the lyrics, and Casey Nicholaw directed and choreographed. If those names ring a bell, it's because they've worked on things like 30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Legally Blonde and The Book of Mormon.
On stage, Faye Tozer takes on the triple role of Ms Heron, Ms Norbury and Mrs George, while Emily Lane plays Cady Heron. The rest of the cast includes Vivian Panka as Regina George, Sophie Pourret as Karen Smith, Kiara Dario as Gretchen Wieners, Georgie Buckland as Janis Sarkisian, Max Gill as Damian Hubbard, Ben Oatley as Aaron Samuels, Karim Zeroual as Kevin Ganatra and Joshua Elmore as Mr Duvall. It's a large ensemble, and the show runs for about two and a half hours with an interval.
There are a few things to keep in mind before you book. The age guidance is 10+, and the production includes mature content, strong language and themes of bullying. It also uses strobe lighting, flashing lights, theatrical smoke, haze and pyrotechnics. If you need them, accessible performances are available with audio description, captioning and sign language interpretation.
