Stand-up comedy from Harriet Dyer, winner of the Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Show 2026, performing her show 'Easily Distra...'.
Harriet Dyer brings her new show Easily Distra... to The Steamworks on Tuesday 18 May 2027, with the set starting at 7:30pm. She arrives in Sheffield as the winner of the Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Show 2026, and the new material carries that momentum forward.
The show is described as a blancmange of whimsy, pulling together a wide range of stories and observations. It touches on the small, odd details of her life—like wearing a wetsuit on a bus—and moves into social commentary on why couples don't talk to each other anymore, before landing on the image of trying to get a cow to lick the top of your head. It's that mix of the trivial and the observational that marks her work.
Critics have long pointed to the particular way she works. The Guardian called her 'definitely one to watch', and her stand-up is often described as instinctively funny and packed with weird and wonderful incidents. Kevin Bridges said 'She's got funny bones', while Steve Bennett, writing for Chortle at the Leicester Comedy Festival, noted that she explores 'the thin line between eccentric and the mental'.

This stripped-back approach is a conscious shift. After a few high-concept shows—one of which she performed entirely in a sweaty T-Rex outfit back in 2019—she's moved to a no-whistles-and-bells style, letting the material stand on its own. Outside of her solo work, she also appears in Plus The Odd Pal.
Tickets start from £20.20, which includes the booking fee. The show is at The Steamworks in Little Sheffield, S24SJ, on Tuesday 18 May, starting at 7:30pm.
