Volunteer-run festive wreath-making workshop using seasonal foliage and traditional embellishments, with all proceeds going to the Sheffield General Cemetery Trust.
The Samuel Worth Chapel at Sheffield General Cemetery is hosting a festive wreath making workshop on Tuesday 8 December, from 12.30pm to 3.00pm. It's a mid-week session, so it's one of those things you'll need to carve out a bit of time for, but it's a good way to get your Christmas sorting done early.
Making a wreath takes around two hours, and the materials are fresh seasonal foliage finished with traditional embellishments: dried oranges, cinnamon sticks, pine cones and festive ribbon. You'll leave with your own wreath to take home, and the session is run by volunteers, with all proceeds going to the Sheffield General Cemetery Trust, a registered charity. The workshop fills the Samuel Worth Chapel, inside the Sheffield General Cemetery — a cemetery opened in 1836 that saw its last burial in 1978 and is now preserved as a green space in the heart of the city.
If you fancy a drink while you work, the Chapel's café is fully licensed, serving local beers, wine and spirits alongside mulled wine, hot drinks and seasonal treats. It's a nice spot to linger after you've finished your wreath, especially if you're in the mood for something warm and festive.

There are a few things you'll need to bring yourself: gardening gloves, a pair of secateurs and a large bag to carry your wreath home. Tickets are £27.00 plus a booking fee, sold online via TicketSource, with none available on the door, so you'll want to book in advance. The workshop runs from 12.30pm to 3.00pm on Tuesday 8 December at The Samuel Worth Chapel, Sheffield General Cemetery, Sheffield, S11 8NT.
