Cabaret and physical theatre show by Fag Packet about two suburban housewives turned MLM-obsessed businesswomen, a subversive takedown of pyramid schemes and corporate feminism.
Dyke Systems Ltd comes to the Playhouse on Wednesday 25 November, 7pm. It's the latest from Fag Packet, the award-winning cabaret and theatre double act of Kheski Kobler and Holly Wilson-Guy, who write, perform and create the show. They're the two on stage as Sally and Susan, two repressed suburban housewives turned MLM-obsessed businesswomen, whose glossy façade cracks as their ambitions spiral out of control.
They describe it as equal parts corporate seminar and queer fever dream, and that's a good way to frame it. It's a sharp, subversive takedown of pyramid schemes, ruthless heteronormativity and corporate feminism, and it pulls from the company's signature mix of comedy, physical theatre, audience interaction and drag. The whole thing is directed by and co-written with Lucy Allan, with movement by Barry Fitzgerald.
It's not a brand new piece, either. It had an Edinburgh Fringe debut that earned over five stars and a place in The Stage's Fringe Five, so it's coming to Sheffield with some critical weight behind it. If you're familiar with Fag Packet's work, you'll know they tend to blend the theatrical with the cabaret, and this fits right into that.
