Stand-up show by Irish comedian Deirdre O'Kane, contrasting domestic failures with historical injustice, for ages 16 and over.
Deirdre OβKane is playing The Steamworks on Saturday 29 May 2027, with doors opening around 19:00 for a 19:30 start. It's a brand new show, and the premise is one of those things that sounds simple until you actually start thinking about it: she spends the hour contrasting the small, everyday failures of domestic life with the larger moments of historical injustice. It's that gap between the two β the trivial and the monumental β that she works her way through.
Along the way, she takes aim at the double tragedies of heartbreak and getting Christmas all wrong, turning irritation, absurdity and outrage into observed stand-up. If you've seen her before, you'll recognise the way she finds the funny in the things that usually just annoy us, and this one keeps that focus on the domestic and the personal.
OβKane is an Irish comedian who's built her reputation at the Edinburgh Fringe over more than two decades. She's put out a steady run of shows along the way: Crystalised in 2001, Startled in 2006, 1Dee in 2016, Demented in 2022, O'Kaning It in 2025 and Keep It Tight in 2026. This is the next one in that sequence, so it's new material rather than a best-of.
