Sheffield's horror film festival returns to the Showroom cinema with a programme of international horror films, featuring the Opening Gala 'Onslaught' and Guest of Honour Larry Fessenden.
Celluloid Screams returns to the Showroom from Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 October, Sheffield's horror film festival back for another run. It's been running since 2009, and over 17 years it's built a bit of a name as a destination for horror fans — it's premiered films like Paranormal Activity, Mandy, The Witch, Barbarian, The Editor, Psycho Goreman and Titane.
The 2026 programme opens with the UK premiere of Onslaught at the Opening Gala on Thursday 22 October, 19:00, and closes with The Fox at the Closing Gala on Sunday 25 October, 22:30. This year's Guest of Honour is Larry Fessenden, who's bringing his monster quadrilogy to the screen: Habit, Depraved, Blackout and Trauma Or, Monsters All. There's a Q&A around Trauma Or, Monsters All as part of his visit. Dirt in the Gate Movies are also presenting a 35mm mystery grindhouse feature, so you won't know what's on the reel until it's running. The Saturday Morning Cartoons and Cereal Party is back too, a concept that started with festival programmer Kier-La Janisse. Beyond the cinema, the festival runs a Horror Market at the Showroom Workstation, with trader pitches allocated first come, first served.
