Free screening of George A. Romero's horror classic 'Night of the Living Dead' (1968) at The Void, for ages 18 and over.
Branch Out Cinema is bringing Night of the Living Dead to The Void on Monday 26 October, as part of their first edition. It's George A. Romero's 1968 horror classic, and the session runs about two and a half hours.
If you've never seen it, the plot is a simple one: a group of unlikely allies barricades themselves inside a farmhouse to hold off a horde of flesh-eating zombies. It's described as a genre-defining horror, and it's easy to see why — it's the film that really helped cement the modern zombie as we know it.
Beyond the screen, it holds a strange place in cinema history. It accidentally fell into the public domain upon its release, which led to countless VHS editions, unauthorised sequels and remakes, and a long tradition of public screenings in film clubs. That's a good bit of context to have in mind when you're watching it in a room full of other people.
