Sheffield Halloween - The Asylum

The Asylum is back at Sheffield Students' Union on Thursday 29 October, the city's biggest Halloween party. It's a long-running one — they've reportedly sold out ten years running — and this year it takes over The Foundry, the SU's basement club, which they're calling The Foundry Asylum for the night.

The whole thing plays on the folklore of the venue. They describe it as a place of darkness and unspeakable experiments locked up for decades, and they dress the room in spine-chilling décor with monstrous performers and big beats. It's less of a standard night out and more of a themed takeover, so the atmosphere is built around the room itself as much as the music.

Fancy dress is strongly encouraged, and the organisers invite you to turn up as a ghost, a ghoul or your darkest alter ego, so it's the kind of night where putting in the effort pays off. It's over-18s only, and you don't need to be a student to get in, which keeps it open to anyone in the city rather than just the student crowd.

It kicks off at 21:00 at The Foundry, Sheffield Students' Union, Western Bank, Broomhall, Sheffield S10 2TG, with tickets ranging from £4.99 to £12.99.
