Screening of 'Trauma Or, Monsters All' with an extended Q&A with director Larry Fessenden, part of the Celluloid Screams horror film festival.
Larry Fessenden is coming to Showroom Cinema on Sunday 25 October, as part of Celluloid Screams. The main event is a screening of Trauma Or, Monsters All (1h 58m), but Fessenden isn't just showing up for the credits: he's the guest of honour, presenting his monster quadrilogy and staying on for an extended Q&A afterwards. If you've followed his work, it's a rare chance to hear him talk through the films in person rather than just watching them.
Celluloid Screams is Sheffield's annual horror festival, founded in 2009 and now in its 18th year. It's become a bit of a destination for horror fans, and its history of premieres reads like a who's who of the last couple of decades: Paranormal Activity, Mandy, The Witch, Barbarian, The Editor, Psycho Goreman and Titane have all passed through here. It's not just about the features, either — the festival supports emerging talent by screening one or more short films before every feature, and it always closes with its now-legendary karaoke party.
This particular screening falls on the final day of the festival, which runs from 22 to 25 October. The Sunday programme is a full one: alongside Trauma Or, Monsters All, you'll find When The Wind Blows marking its 40th anniversary, Never After Dark, a Celluloid Screams secret film, and the closing gala The Fox. If you're planning to make a day of it, there's a Sunday pass available to cover the lot.
