Beginner bookbinding workshop to make a junk journal using the five-hole pamphlet stitch, with all materials provided.
Concrete Nature are running a bookbinding workshop at Showroom Cinema on Saturday 14 November, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. It's part of the Endless Love Creative Market at The Showroom Workstation, a contemporary art, craft and design makers market, so it's one of several things happening around the venue that day.
Over the 90 minutes, you'll learn the five-hole pamphlet stitch binding technique to make your own junk journal. The name comes from the materials: you'll build it from a selection of paper, offprints, patterned sheets and ephemera, and you're welcome to bring along any of your own paper scraps or ephemera to mix in. All the tools and materials are provided, and you'll get a step-by-step instruction sheet to follow as you go. You'll leave with a finished journal ready to fill in.
No previous experience is required, so it works as a first go at bookbinding. It's open to anyone aged 16 and over, with under-18s needing to be accompanied by an adult. The Showroom Workstation is wheelchair accessible via lifts and ramps.
