Tony Award-winning musical adapted from S.E. Hinton's novel and Francis Ford Coppola's film, set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1967.
The Outsiders opens at Delta Hall at the Eccles Theater on Tuesday, November 10, and runs through Sunday, November 15. It's presented by Zions Bank & Broadway at the Eccles, and it's the Tony Award-winning musical adapted from S.E. Hinton's novel and Francis Ford Coppola's film.
Set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1967, the story follows Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade, and their Greaser family of 'outsiders' as they battle their affluent rivals, the Socs. It's a story about class and friendship that most of us know from the book or the movie, now on a stage. The production won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Musical, and the creative team behind it is a full house: a book by Adam Rapp with Justin Levine, music and lyrics by Jamestown Revival (Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance), choreography by Rick Kuperman and Jeff Kuperman, and direction by Tony Award winner Danya Taymor. Entertainment Weekly described it as a show 'that has the power to inspire an entire generation.'
