Kurt Bestor and his all-star band and orchestra play his holiday concert, the Intermountain West's longest-running Christmas tradition.
Kurt Bestor brings A Kurt Bestor Christmas to Delta Hall at the Eccles Theater this December, with four performances over three nights. It's a holiday tradition that's been running in Utah for 39 years, and this year it's back in the same spot: 131 South Main Street in Salt Lake City.
Bestor leads the show with his all-star band and orchestra, and the set is built around his arrangements of holiday favorites. If you've seen it before, you know the format: the music is paired with Bestor's easy-going stage presence and the same-show banter he's been doing for nearly four decades. It's become a fixture of the Intermountain West, and for many here, it's the longest-running holiday tradition in the state.
Outside of the Christmas run, Bestor is a two-time Emmy winner and Grammy nominee whose composing touches classical, jazz, cinematic, and Broadway styles. His song of peace, "Prayer of the Children," is one of the most frequently performed vocal pieces worldwide, and his work is played by orchestras, choirs, and soloists across the globe. He's also known for The Redeemer: Music on the Life of Jesus the Christ, an epic sacred cantata.
