Musical based on Tim Burton's film, following teenager Lydia Deetz and a demon with a thing for stripes, presented by Zions Bank & Broadway at the Eccles.
Beetlejuice opens at the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater on Tuesday, January 5, and runs through Sunday, January 10. It's a short window—just six days—so if you're planning to go, you'll want to pick your night early. The production is presented by Zions Bank & Broadway at the Eccles.
The musical is based on Tim Burton's film and follows Lydia Deetz, a strange teenager whose life changes when she meets a recently deceased couple and a demon with a thing for stripes. It's built around an irreverent book, an astonishing set, and a score set in the Netherworld. Variety called it "SCREAMINGLY GOOD FUN!" and noted that under its uproarious surface it's a remarkably touching show about family, love, and making the most of every Day-O'.
The Eccles itself is a performing arts center on Main Street in downtown Salt Lake City, designed by architect Cesar Pelli of Pelli-Clarke-Pelli Architects. It features a grand six-story lobby with dramatic retractable glass walls, so if you're arriving early, there's plenty of room to hang out before the curtain goes up.
