Disney's stage musical with the Oscar-winning score of 'Be Our Guest' and 'Beauty and the Beast', recommended for ages 6 and up.
Disney's Beauty and the Beast opens at the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater on Tuesday, December 8, and runs through Saturday, December 19. It's the stage musical that brought the film to the theater, built around the Oscar-winning and Tony Award-nominated score that gave us "Be Our Guest" and "Beauty and the Beast."
This production brings back members of the original Tony Award-winning artistic team. Alan Menken composed the music, Tim Rice wrote the lyrics, and Linda Woolverton wrote the book. Matt West handles direction and choreography, Stanley A. Meyer is on scenic design, Ann Hould-Ward takes care of costumes, and Natasha Katz is in charge of lighting. Critics have called it lavish and opulent, with the New York Times calling it "a delight" and the New York Post a "spectacular stage extravaganza."
