Annual exhibition of kiln-formed and blown glass by the Glass Art Guild of Utah, with pieces available for purchase.
The Glass Art Guild of Utah is back at Red Butte Garden this November, bringing their annual exhibition of kiln-formed and blown glass to the Visitor Center. It opens on November 6 and runs through December 20, so it's one of those shows you can drop into whenever you've got a free hour during the half of November and December it's up.
If you've been before, you know the scale of it. The guild gathers hundreds of pieces—both large and small—and puts them all in one room. The variety is where it gets interesting: you'll find garden art, decorative boxes, plates, trays, bowls, sculptures, and jewelry. It's a good mix of the functional and the purely decorative, and since it's an annual show, you get to see what the guild's artists have been working on over the last year.
One thing to keep in mind is that everything on display is available for purchase. If you're looking for a holiday gift, this is a convenient spot to find something handmade and local without having to hunt through a dozen different shops. The range of sizes makes it easy to find something small, like a piece of jewelry, or something larger for the home.
