Fisherman's Friends: The Musical

Fisherman's Friends: The Musical opens at Theatre Royal Plymouth on Sunday 28 November 2027, with the curtain going up at 18:30. It's the start of a new UK tour for the production, which comes to Plymouth after sold-out dates across the UK throughout 2026 and a successful Australian tour earlier that same year.

Written by Amanda Whittington, the musical is based on the true story of the Cornish singing group Fisherman's Friends and the 2019 film about their lives. If you've seen the movie, you'll recognise the story: a group of Cornish fishermen who sing shanties together, and the unexpected fame that followed. There's also a sequel to the film due in the UK, so the timing works out if you're following the story across both screen and stage.

This isn't the show's first outing. It was staged by Mirvish Theatre as part of their 2022-2023 season, and the touring production is directed by James Grieve, with James Findlay conducting the band. The Plymouth run is part of the new UK tour announced for 2027, so the show is arriving here fresh from its 2026 run.
