High-energy painting workshop for all ages using rotating machines, stencils and abstract techniques, within the Super Saturday programme.
Graham Robinson is running a spin and splat painting workshop at The Box on Saturday 4 July, as part of the Super Saturday: Summer of Expression day. It's a high-energy session, and the whole thing is built around movement and making, so it's one of those where you're doing rather than just watching.

The main event is a rotating machine that you paint with, letting the spin do a good bit of the work for you. From there, you'll make an abstract painting using stencils, and you'll also build a box to carry your work home in. It's all about getting stuck in and seeing what happens when you let the paint fly, rather than worrying about getting it exactly right.
The workshop is open to all abilities, and it's aimed at families with kids from age three and up, so it's a good one to bring the little ones along to. It also celebrates the work of Gillian Ayres, whose painting is on display at The Box, which gives the whole thing a bit of a connection to what's hanging on the walls around you.
There are three separate sessions running throughout the day: 10:00 to 11:30, 11:45 to 13:15, and 14:00 to 15:30, so you can pick the one that fits your morning or afternoon. It's £5 per participant, and accompanying adults who aren't taking part get in for free. You'll need to book your place in advance, either through the website or at the shop. The Box is on Tavistock Place, PL4 8AX.
