Interactive storytelling session for young children at The Box in Plymouth, using song, movement and props to build language and social skills.
Tiny Tales is back at The Box on Friday 21 August, from 10:30 to 11:15. It's an interactive theatre storytelling session for young children, run by the museum in partnership with Theatre Royal Plymouth. The whole point is that the kids don't just sit and listen โ they get to steer the story themselves through song, movement and props, picking up language, social and performance skills along the way in a welcoming environment.
It's part of the year-round programme of family-friendly activities The Box runs, which includes free storytelling, talks and live music. If you've never been, The Box is Plymouth's major award-winning museum, art gallery and archive, just a short walk from the city centre and nominated for Art Fund Museum of the Year 2026. It houses thousands of natural history specimens, a full-size replica woolly mammoth, works of art and archive film and photography, and research facilities for anyone tracing the city's or their own family history. Entry to the museum is free and no booking is needed; it opens 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holidays, closed Monday.

Because it's a morning session, you can easily make a day of it โ let the little ones have their go at the storytelling, and then wander through the galleries afterwards. A standard ticket is ยฃ5 and covers one child with one accompanying adult.
