Our Land Flows...from Peat to Pipe: Watery workshop

Art and Energy are bringing their new project, Our Land Flows...from Peat to Pipe, to The Market Hall in Devonport on Saturday 22 August. It's a drop-in workshop, so you can just pop in whenever suits you between 11am and 2pm.

The project asks a simple question that most of us never think about: where does the water from your tap actually come from? The answer starts high up on Dartmoor, in the peatlands of the high moors, and follows the long journey that water takes before it ends up piped into your home. There's also a look at the city's own history in the mix — the leats dug hundreds of years ago to carry water to the people of Plymouth and to power the city's working mills.

On the day, that's all translated into hands-on, interactive activities. You'll find mosses to look at under magnifiers, drawing, and water experiments to get stuck into. It's designed for all ages, so it works as a family thing on a Saturday morning or just something to drift into on your own. If you're bringing children, they'll need to be accompanied by an adult.

It's free to take part, and you can either book your place in advance or just drop in on the day. The Market Hall is on Duke Street in Devonport, PL1 4PS, and the activities run from 11am to 2pm on Saturday 22 August.
