Screenings of the psychological thriller about a ghostwriter who discovers chilling autobiographical notes in her author's manuscript.
Verity opens at Curzon Oxford on Friday 23 October, with screenings at 2.40pm and 8.40pm. It's the film adaptation of the thriller by Colleen Hoover, and it's staying in the cinema for a good while — further screenings run through to 29 October, so if you can't make the opening day, you've got the rest of the week to catch it.
The story follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who's hired as a ghostwriter for the renowned author Verity Crawford. Verity's been incapacitated after an accident, and Lowen's job is to step in and finish the series she started. It sounds like a straightforward gig, but it takes a dark turn when Lowen finds a hidden autobiography in Verity's office — a set of chilling notes that Verity never intended for anyone to see, and that paint a very different picture of the woman she's working for.
From there, the plot tightens around the tension between what Lowen's been told and what she's reading, and the more she digs into those notes, the more she finds herself questioning everything she knows about the Crawford family. It's a slow-burn psychological thriller that keeps you guessing about who's telling the truth and what's actually going on behind closed doors.

It runs for 117 minutes, just under two hours, so it's a proper sit-down movie rather than a quick one. The first day has a matinee at 2.40pm and an evening showing at 8.40pm, and with screenings continuing until 29 October, you've got plenty of options to fit it in.
