Screening of Paul Greengrass's film 'The Uprising', a dramatisation of the 1381 Peasants' Revolt, at Curzon Oxford.
The Uprising opens at Curzon Oxford on Saturday 17 October, with the first screening at 3.00pm. It's a dramatisation of the Peasants' Revolt of 1381, set in plague-ravaged 14th-century England, and it follows a peasant who triggers a rebellion against King Richard II and unintentionally becomes a legend of resistance.
Paul Greengrass directed it, and the cast is a big draw: Andrew Garfield, Jamie Bell and Thomasin McKenzie. It's a 128-minute film, so just over two hours, and it carries a 15 certificate, which is something to keep in mind if you're bringing anyone younger.
If the Saturday afternoon doesn't work, there are plenty of other times to catch it. It runs through the following week: Sunday 18 October at 7.40pm, Monday 19 October at 8.20pm, Tuesday 20 October at 12.20pm, Wednesday 21 October at 8.20pm and Thursday 22 October at 12.20pm. That's a good mix of matinees and evening slots, so you can pick whatever fits your schedule best.
