Aaron Sorkin's film about Facebook, with Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong, screened at the Phoenix Picturehouse.
The Social Reckoning is showing at Phoenix Picturehouse on Tuesday 20 October at 19:45, with a second screening on Thursday 29 October at 20:30. It's the sequel to The Social Network, and it turns its attention inward at Facebook to look at the company's internal practices, the spread of false information, the platform's impact on teen mental health and its connection to the January 6 Capitol events. The film dramatises the 2021 Facebook leak by Frances Haugen, so it's less about the founding of the site and more about what happened inside the walls long after it became a household name.
Aaron Sorkin wrote and directed it, and he's back with a cast that includes Jeremy Allen White, Mikey Madison and Jeremy Strong. If you remember the original, it's the same kind of fast-talking, high-stakes drama, but this time the focus is on the internal fallout rather than the courtroom battles. It carries a 15 certificate, so it's not for the younger ones.
