Halloween screening of Pixar's Monsters, Inc. in the Divinity School, the Old Bodleian Library's gothic hall, with over-ear headphones and snacks.
Monsters, Inc. is screening at the Divinity School on Friday 30 October, Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November, with doors opening at 2.30pm and the film starting at 3pm each day. It's part of the Old Bodleian Library's first-ever Halloween film programme, and it's aimed at families and adults alike.
The film is the 2001 Pixar story starring Billy Crystal and John Goodman. It follows two monsters whose job is to make human children scream, who accidentally let a little girl into their world and have to protect her to get her home unscathed. The screening fills the Divinity School, the Old Bodleian's gothic hall with a vaulted ceiling dating from the 1400s, so you'll be watching it under those old arches rather than in a cinema. Over-ear headphones are provided for everyone, and there are drinks and snacks available inside.
It's one of three films running over the weekend: Beetlejuice (1988) and Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) are the others, though Dracula is already fully sold out. Across the same dates, the Divinity School is also running After Hours and Children's Literature tours of the Old Bodleian Library, so you could make a proper afternoon of it.
