Screening of the new take on Jane Austen's story of love and sisterhood at Curzon Oxford.
Sense and Sensibility opens at Curzon Oxford on Friday 23 October, with screenings running through to Thursday 29 October. It's a new take on Jane Austen's story of love and sisterhood, the one that follows the Dashwood sisters as they navigate family, money and the messy business of the heart. If you've read the book or seen the other versions, you know the ground it covers: the contrast between Elinor's restraint and Marianne's more open way of doing things, and the slow-burn romances that tie them both to the people around them.
The film is described as an irresistible new take on the story, and it keeps the charm and wit Austen built into the original. It's a familiar territory, but seeing it fresh on the big screen is a different thing from reading it on the page. The Curzon is in the Westgate Centre, so it's right in the middle of the city, easy enough to get to whether you're coming from the centre or heading in from further out.
