Screening of the documentary 'Naza', shot from rooftops in Tel Aviv about the civilian deaths caused by Israeli military operations in Gaza.
Naza is coming to The Ultimate Picture Palace on Cowley Road, with three screenings over three days: Monday 2 November at 8.30pm, Tuesday 3 November at 6.30pm, and Wednesday 4 November at 3.45pm.
Directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, Naza (2026) is a UK/USA production running 1 hour and 17 minutes, in Arabic and Hebrew with English subtitles. It was shot at night from rooftops in Tel Aviv over three years, and it looks at the civilian deaths caused by Israeli military operations in Gaza and the systems behind the targeted killing of Palestinians. Abraham and Szor are two of the four co-directors of the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land, and they've spoken about making this film out of a sense of obligation to use their position as Israelis to examine those systems.
Much of what the film reveals was published almost immediately after the October 7 attacks by The Guardian, one of the film's producers, in collaboration with +972 Magazine and Local Call. It premiered at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Prize, and John Bleasdale of Time Out called it 'exemplary as cinema, inarguable as journalism and an indictment as a document.'
