Taika Waititi's film adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's dystopian novel 'Klara and the Sun', screened at Vue Cinema Oxford.
Klara and the Sun opens at Vue Cinema in Oxford on Friday 23 October, with screenings running through to Thursday 29 October. It's Taika Waititi's adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's 2021 dystopian novel, and the film runs for 116 minutes. It's rated 12A.
Waititi takes on Ishiguro's story, which centres on an Artificial Friend — an android designed to provide companionship — and the world she observes from her shop window. The novel came out in 2021, so the film arrives a few years after the book first hit the shelves. If you've read it, you'll know the ground it covers; if you haven't, it's a good place to start before seeing it on the big screen.
The screenings are spread across the week, so there's a fair bit of choice. It kicks off on Friday 23 October at 11.30am, then moves to Saturday 24 October at 5.00pm.
