Free screening of the public information film 'The People's Emergency Briefing' about the UK's climate and nature emergency, followed by a discussion.
The People's Emergency Briefing is coming to Canalhouse on Sunday 1 November, a public information film about the UK's growing climate and nature emergency. It looks at what the crisis means for people's lives, the economy and the future, and it's one of several screenings taking the film across the country.
The film grew out of the National Emergency Briefing held in November 2025, which brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the crisis to politicians and other influential figures in Westminster. This screening takes that same message to local communities, with each showing opening with a discussion on how people can respond. It's framed as a catalyst for a wider public conversation and a stepping stone towards a live televised national briefing, introduced by the Prime Minister and delivered by independent experts, so the whole country can be fully informed about the risks and the solutions available.

A petition for such a briefing runs alongside the film, and the organisers point to the National Emergency Briefing's list of actions and a YouTube playlist of full talks from each expert for anyone who wants to dig deeper into the evidence. The screening itself runs from 11:00 to 12:30, with doors open from 10:30, at Canalhouse, 48-52 Canal Street, Nottingham NG1 7EH.
