Film screening of The Royal Ballet's Manon, a classical ballet with choreography and live orchestral music, at Bonington Theatre & Cinema.
The Royal Ballet bring Manon to the screen at Bonington Theatre & Cinema on Tuesday 27 October, with a second showing on Sunday 1 November. It's a film screening of the full production, so you get the Royal Opera House stage brought to a cinema screen in Arnold rather than having to make the trip to London.
Manon is a classical ballet that tells a dramatic story through choreography and live orchestral music. It's built on the kind of elegant dance and elaborate staging the company is known for, with the music and movement doing the heavy lifting to carry the plot. If you're not usually one for the ballet, a cinema screening is a decent way to ease in — you get the full performance without the formality of the opera house, and the close-ups let you see the detail of the dancing in a way you'd miss from the back of a theatre.
