Stand-up show 'Catamaran' by Milo Edwards, prompted by old letters from his parents, at The Canalhouse as part of the Nottingham Comedy Festival.
Milo Edwards brings his show Catamaran to The Canalhouse on Tuesday 3 November, as part of the Nottingham Comedy Festival. The festival runs for ten days across various venues in the city, and this is one of the stand-up nights on the bill.
Catamaran started with a box of old letters Edwards found in 2025, tucked away in the back of his late mother's wardrobe. The show is built around his parents and the letters they wrote to each other, set against the 1980s. From there it asks what remains of a human life, what gets torn out, and what happens if that life was surprisingly horny. It also wonders what happened to Jim Lock's catamaran.
Critics have called Edwards one of the UK's smartest, most vital stand-ups, and he was a Leicester Comedy Festival Best Show Nominee. If you've not come across his work before, that's a good place to start: he's known for being sharp and observant, and Catamaran is the kind of show that pulls its material from something specific and personal and lets it open up into something wider. The letters are the starting point, but the show is as much about the 1980s and the things that get left behind as it is about his parents.
