Sue Perkins' first full-length stand-up show in nearly 20 years, about stigma, humiliation and the unlikely happenings of a career in the spotlight.
Sue Perkins brings her new show, The Eternal Shame of Sue Perkins, to Norwich Theatre Royal on Saturday 9 January 2027. It's her first full-length stand-up show in nearly twenty years, and it's part of a tour taking her to more than forty British cities.
Most of us know her as 'Bake-Off Sue', 'Taskmaster Sue', or 'Just A Minute Sue' — the one who gives you travel envy. But this is stand-up Sue, and she's working from a different angle. The show is a treatise on stigma, humiliation and misunderstanding, and she builds it around the unlikely things that happen when you spend your career in the spotlight. She talks about her pituitary gland going haywire on live TV, how she convinced the public she didn't actually fall onto a vacuum attachment, and how she turned shame into dignity and joy when intimate photos splashed across the internet.
It's a long one, running about an hour and fifty minutes including the interval, and it's recommended for ages 16+. The tour has already picked up some strong reviews: The Telegraph called it 'excellent', The Times 'heart-warming', and the Mail on Sunday 'intimate and raw'.
