Stand-up show by comedian Dan Tiernan, who has had three sold-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival and three Edinburgh Comedy Award nominations.
Dan Tiernan brings Quartz and All to Norwich Theatre on Thursday 29 October, his first Norwich date since his last run of sold-out Edinburgh festivals. He's a stand-up comedian who's been picking up a fair bit of momentum lately: The Guardian called him 'one of comedy's most distinctive new voices', and he's coming off a hat trick of sold-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival. The awards nominations follow that, too — Best Newcomer in 2023, and Best Comedy Show in both 2025 and 2026, plus a Best Comedy Show nod at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2026. He's also appeared on Live at the Apollo, 8 Out of Ten Cats Does Countdown, The Last Leg and QI, and played the Manchester Comedy Store and the Just For Laughs festival.
The act draws on his own life — he's a gay, dyspraxic Mancunian who works in a care home for young asylum seekers. The show is staged with an amethyst, a bucketful of sage and a rose quartz the size of his head, so there's a bit of a visual side to it as well as the storytelling. The reviews have been mixed in a way that usually points to something worth seeing: the Mail on Sunday called him 'one of the most compelling voices to emerge in stand-up in recent years', while The List described him as 'unhinged'.
