Touring stage adaptation of the horror film series, in which a couple moving from Chicago to London discovers that people, not places, are haunted.
Paranormal Activity comes to Norwich Theatre Royal from Tuesday 10 to Saturday 14 November, a live stage adaptation of the horror film series. It's a new story, not a beat-for-beat remake of the movies, and it follows James and Lou, a couple who move from Chicago to London to escape their past, only to find that places aren't haunted — people are.
It's written by Levi Holloway and directed by Felix Barrett, with James Bye as James and Hannah Sinclair Robinson as Lou. Jo Castleton plays Etheline Cotgrave and Caroline Faber as Carolanne. The whole thing was originally developed at Leeds Playhouse and is produced by Simon Friend and Hanna Osmolska for Melting Pot in association with Leeds Playhouse. It's now on its first ever UK and Ireland tour, which opened at Richmond Theatre on 5 September 2026 and runs nationwide until May 2027, with a London West End stand at the Ambassadors Theatre. It's also toured North America, with stops at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, the Ahmanson Theatre and the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, and it's been praised by The Guardian, The Financial Times and The Metro.
The original film series was written and directed by Oren Peli and brought to the screen by Blumhouse and Solana Films, so if you're coming to this as a fan of the movies, it's worth keeping in mind that this is a new story written for the stage rather than a direct adaptation. The running time is around 2 hours 10 minutes including an interval, and there's an age recommendation of 15+.
