The Cornley Amateur Drama Society's comedy play about a disastrous Christmas Carol production, from MISCHIEF, the company behind 'The Play That Goes Wrong'.
Christmas Carol Goes Wrong opens at Norwich Theatre Royal on Tuesday 3 November, running through to Saturday 7 November. It's the latest from MISCHIEF, the company behind The Play That Goes Wrong, and it arrives in Norwich straight from a strictly limited West End run. The show is billed as 'the worst production in Christmas past, present and yet to come'.
The premise is one you'll recognise if you've seen their previous work: the Cornley Amateur Drama Society are back, this time taking on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. As they try to get through the classic, things go south with hilarious consequences. The plot follows the Cornley crew as they battle miscommunication, set delays, actors missing in action and a growing feud over who gets to play the lead, turning the whole thing into a festive slice of pure escapism. Dave Hearn, an original cast member of The Play That Goes Wrong and the BBC comedy series The Goes Wrong Show, returns to the fold.
It's a bit of a Dickensian disaster to savour, as The Guardian put it, and WhatsOnStage called it an irresistible Christmas treat. A few things to keep in mind before you book: there's moderately bad language, some sexual references and innuendo, depictions of violence for comedic effect and a moment of audience interaction in Act 2. It's recommended for ages 8 and up.
